Mom's Scrubbies

Mom makes these scrubbies for added income. Her social security does not go far, and at 3$ a scrubbie, she is not going to get rich. I do think her scrubbies are exceptionally good quality, they are made of 100% nylon, and they won't scratch anything, even chrome(for the guys). They get off bugs from the front of your car too. You must rinse them very well after using. Every week or so put them in the dishwasher or washing machine. They last forever, and when you are done with one job, put it to use somewhere else.
The pattern is simple. Chain 3, sl to form circle. chain 2, 2 Half double crochet in circle 12 times,sl to close circle, chain 2,2 half double crochet in each stitch and sl to close circle, chain 2, half double crochet in first stitch, half double crochet in second stitch, 2 half double crochet in third stitch, continue the 1-1-2 half doubles to finish circle and sl to close and tie off.
It's easy...the hard part is getting the stiff nylon. You can buy it in Walmart in 54 in goods, but then you have to cut it 3inches wide and have between 9 and 10 yards long. We have been fortunate to find a place that sells it to us, but you must purchase $100. at a time, so we will be happy to sell you a 3in by 40 yd roll of the colors that we carry for $3. You should get 4 scrubbies out of a roll.
Thanks for showing and asking about Mom's scrubbies.

Georgia Trip

Arrived safely at home today, after a beautiful drive from Flowery Branch, Georgia. I have left my Mom at her sister Vernell's for a week or so. The two of them will travel to southern Georgia later to stay with their sister Betty in Waycross. There they will have all four of the sisters together and hopefully have some good visiting. They can always find something to talk about or something to do. The fourth sister is Diane. Mom is the oldest at 84, then Betty, Vernell and Diane is the baby at----I think she is 66.

We left last Tuesday afternoon late. I went to get the oil changed and the tires rotated on Tuesday Ladies Day so I could save $3.oo. Having arrived at 8:30 and returning home at 1:30, I spent extra monies on a serpentine belt and 2 new shocks for the front tires, which they said I really needed badly. So I spent $500. and saved $3.00.......somehow that just doesn't add up. Shouldn't ladies day be 10% off of everything you have done and not just the oil change?????

Anyway, since we got off to such a late start, I thought we would take Mom on a route she had not been on before. We went out thru Whiteville and all the way across the state to Chattanooga. While it was daylight, the ride was beautiful, what Mom saw of it when not sleeping in the car(her favorite thing to do). We stopped for dinner in Fayetteville at a small diner called Marvin's. The food was great! And only $6.50 pp for the buffet, which had everything from fried fish, fried chicken, bbq chicken (it was great), all kinds of vegetables, salad, cobblers, and ice cream. We called Vernell to let her know about how late we would arrive. It was ok, I knew she would sleep on the couch til we got there.

We arrived at 1:30am and talked forever....got up late the next day and kept on talking....lots of catching up to do. Til next time......
